27 June 2010 - Camaret to Ile de L'Aber

A bit more wind this morning (ie looks like just enough to sail) so we filled up with water and went to the fuel berth, which is the worst I have ever used: Lots of wash from the vedette and other boats, poor and few mooring cleats, hose too short, no receipt from the Card machine - Sorry must stop ranting.

Once in the bay it seems that there is no wind anyway, so we motored through the Chenal de Toulinguet and then to Les Tas de Pois where we passed between La Fourche and Le Dentele. The channel felt scarily narrow, especially with a bit of swell sploshing up and down the sides. Once through and looking back it seemed quite wide. Strange. Anchored in anse de Pen-Hir to swim, have lunch and wait for some wind. Wind eventually arrived and we sailed round Cap de La Chevre and up towards Morgat, looking for the sea caves. Anchored in Anse de St Harnot and looked for caves in the dinghy. Could not find any that seemed safe to try to enter even though swell was light. Possibly because it was now High Water springs! Made do with going round a few of the rocks.

Moved on the Ile de L'Aber (in Bay of Douarnenez) where there is a recommended anchorage behind a little island. Seems OK and the wind is offshore but there is quite a noise of the swell breaking on the beach and rocks. Also there is nobody else here - do they know something that we don't?

Hopefully tomorrow we will go to Ile de Sein - just trying to plan it out making sure that the tide does not suck us through the Raz de Sein instead.
