Early mist over the cliffs nearby. During breakfast this spread onto the sea so we could not even see the shore. I think this is just a land mist drifting out to sea. After an hour or 2 delay it cleared, though still with bits of mist about, and we set off for Ile de Sein. Quite a bit of motoring out of Bay of Douarenez, then eventually we could sail, past Trevennec lighthouse like a little church perched on a big rock and then straight downwind towards Ile de Sein. A bit tense rushing towards a tiny low island (max elevation 6m) trying to find the leading marks, sometimes hidden by the swell. Soon found the way in and anchored in the inner harbour in a depth where (on later careful calculation) we would not quite dry out.
Ile de Sein is a strange place with quite a lot of houses, separated by tiny narrow lanes. Walked to the far end and back, passing the old tiny fields, now no longer in use, separated by dry stone walls. Chilled out for a while having a beer at a harbour-side bar, watching the boules players and a group of children playing on the bathing platform and jumping in by the slipway where it says "Baignade Interdite" - I think this means "bathing for children only". Some were in wet suits and some were not. we were later told they were most of the pupils at the island's school (9). After about age 14 they go to school in Brest, weekly boarding.
Tomorrow we will go South, so we need to pass through the Raz de Sein.
